Mt. Union defeated in Stagg Bowl 43-34

It was a series of unfortunate events last night in Salem, VA for the Mt. Union Purple Raiders, as they lost to Wisconsin-Whitewater 43-34 in the 2014 Stagg Bowl.. In a game that saw ebbs and flows for both teams, Mt. Union was unable to overcome it’s mistakes and surrendered scoring opportunities, short defensive fields […]

Ohio Football Preview: Mt. Union vs Wisc.Whitewater in Stagg Bowl

The 2014-2015 Bowl Season begins tonight when the Mt. Union Purple Raiders (14-0) play the Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks (14-0) in the 2014 Stagg Bowl, held in Salem, VA. This is the Division III football championship game. This game matches, again, two storied D-III programs. There are two storylines with this game. First, Mt. Union, in Alliance OH, […]

Kyle Dodson Hangs Up His Cleats

Per LGHL, per the OSU Athletic Department, Kyle Dodson has “retired” from football due to a neck injury.

According to the release, the school’s medical staff determined Dodson had a neck condition and as a result has been medically disqualified from continuing to play football. Dodson, who hails originally from Cleveland Heights High School in the greater Cleveland area, had played in only one game during the 2014 season. He’d appeared briefly in three games in 2013.

Kyle is a member of the ’12 recruiting class, Urban’s first class at Ohio State.

We wish Kyle the very best in his life. Yes, there is life beyond football.

Good luck, Kyle.

Ohio State Football: They Do Run Run II

Back in mid-October, I did a short article on the comparison of the 2014 Ohio State running performance to the 2013 version. As a refresher, I wondered how the 2014 version of a pretty talented quarterback, a decent running back and a reconstituted offensive line stacked up against the 2013 unit of a top rated […]

Back for Seconds: B1G CCG

I have a few additional thoughts about Saturday’s win in the Big Ten Championship game. To be blunt; this was an epic ass-kicking. Wisconsin was never in this game. Ohio State’s starters and relievers pitched a shut-out, 59-0. It was truly, a satisfying game. I admit that I’d projected WI to sneak out a 3-4 point […]

Football Final Four: Buckeyes In!!

As we saw last night, the Ohio State Buckeyes rolled a pretty good Wisconsin team, 59-zip. Was it enough to move Ohio State from the “looking in” 5th spot to the Final Four of the CFB chosen? This is CFB’s version of Musical Chairs; 4 chairs available with 6 teams circling: Alabama, Oregon, TCU, Florida […]
