After a heart breaking loss to 24th ranked Georgia earlier in the week, the Ohio State women’s basketball team sought to return to .500 on the season as they hosted VCU today. The Buckeyes held a late lead against the Bulldogs but watched it slip away in the closing minutes. A short bench, OSU only […]
After a close loss at Virginia in their season opening, the Ohio State women’s basketball team got their first win of the year on Sunday when they hosted St. Francis. OK, folks you have a few years to get shined up and lean on your Columbus friends for tickets. Per The Columbus Dispatch:
City of Columbus, Ohio State University and Nationwide Arena officials gathered tonight in the Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill to celebrate the city’s selection to host the NCAA women’s basketball Final Four in 2018.
The NCAA made the announcement on ESPN at halftime of the Kentucky-Baylor women’s game in Lexington, Ky., and drew an ovation in the Grandview restaurant.
This is a really big deal from a prestige and financial perspective for the Columbus community.
The economic impact of a Final Four reportedly generates between $18 million and $20 million for the host city. Landing the event enhances Columbus’ image as a destination for other major events.
Congratulations to all involved who brought this tournament to Columbus. Well done.

Coach McGuff’s Buckeyes hosted Eckerd College in a pre-season (exhibition) game Sunday afternoon. Honestly, I don’t get too excited about exhibition games […]
The Buckeyes appear to have their second commit to the 2015 class in St. Mary’s Episcopal HS guard Kaylan Pugh from Collierville, TN. The 5’9″ guard is the 7th rated at her position and 25th overall according to Prospect Nation and brings a toughness to the position that will be needed next year after the […]

Per the OSU Athletic Department: COLUMBUS, Ohio –Kevin McGuff, Ohio State head women’s basketball coach, announced Thursday that senior guard Raven Ferguson has been dismissed from the team for a violation of team rules. “I’ve enjoyed having the opportunity to coach Raven this past year,” McGuff said. “And it’s unfortunate […]
Although a tad incomplete, the Ohio State University released the women’s basketball schedule. Season ticket holder and women’s basketball super fan Jeff Howell had this to say. It’s difficult to determine the full extent of the schedule because Ohio State is still waiting on one contract from a non conference school before they release the […]

Based on a strong 2nd half performance yesterday against Northwestern, Ohio State’s Friday opponent was #1 seed Penn State. The Nittany Lions had no trouble with the ‘bye’ to move into the 2nd round. That “thud” you heard was Penn State’s Big Ten Tournament coming to a convincing end as Ohio State avenged two regular […]
Ohio State and Northwestern opened up the Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament this afternoon. The Buckeyes finally prevailed in a tough contest, pulling away in the last two minutes for the final margin, 86-77. Before I get into the particulars, I want to congratulate both teams on a hard fought contest. The 2nd half, […]

Head coach Kevin McGuff has has some more work to do this season but his first three All-B1G honorees have been named and the streak of All-B1G first team honorees continues for the Buckeyes as Ameryst Alston has been so honored. I tweeted the Canton McKinley product yesterday, @ThatsSORaven_31 was second on the team in scoring with 12.8 ppg, […]
The Ohio State women’s basketball team traveled to Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers in the final game of the 2013-2014 regular season. After falling just short of a road upset against #25 Iowa, the Buckeyes came into this game with a 15-16 (5-10) record and in need of a win to help their […]
