J.T. Barrett vs. Baker Mayfield: Who is More Likely to Win the Heisman Trophy in 2016?

When the game of college football returns in 2016, there will be a good amount of returning quarterbacks that have shown the potential to be stars.

In the ACC, Deshuan Watson flashed greatness in the College Football Playoff National Championship. He will return for another season at Clemson.

In a conference where arm punting was more common than touchdown passes, Ole Miss welcomes back Chad Kelly, who put on an offensive show against Oklahoma State in the Sugar Bowl.

Notre Dame has two quarterbacks in DeShone Kizer and Malik Zaire who could both be difference makers for Brian Kelly next season.

Outside Watson, the two most exciting quarterbacks in the country next season could be Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett and Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield.

Both have similar career numbers and are without a doubt the leaders of their offenses heading into next season.

So who has a better chance of winning the Heisman Trophy in 2016?

It’s debate season — so our own Joe Dexter stepped up to the plate to take the side of J.T. Barrett in the great VSporto Debate. Who’s he up against? Joe Buettner, who covers the Oklahoma Sooners for the Dallas Morning News.
