Ohio State Defeats Walsh 95-49 in Exhibition

Written November 6th, 2011 by Eric

Jordan Sibert might be ready to make people forget about Diebler.

Ohio State took the hardwood for the first and only time in exhibition play against the Walsh Cavalier.  Ohio State jumped out to a big lead early, and cruised to a 95-49 victory at home where they were able to play every single scholarship player on the bench.  William Buford led all scorers with 17 points, while Lenzelle Smith and Evan Ravenel each collected 8 rebounds for the game.  Also of note were Jordan Sibert’s and Jared Sullinger’s 15 points, and Sibert’s incredible 4-5 shooting from long range.

The Buckeyes started out with a lineup that was somewhat of a surprise for many.  Running with Aaron Craft, Lenzelle Smith, William Buford, Deshuan Thomas, and Jared Sullinger, was a line that demonstrated just how deep this team really can be.  Ohio State operated a fast paced offense early, trying to get the ball down low to Sullinger on every possession.  They were more than happy, though, to take shots from the outside when it was open.  Buford took advantage of that on several occasions.

At the first TV timeout Shannon Scott and Evan Ravenel came in for Lenzelle Smith and Deshaun Thomas respectively.  With the line change, Sullinger moved to the 4 and Craft moved to the 2 as we expected with the talents of this set.  Despite the change in personnel the OSU offense did not change drastically.  That suggests the talents of this team will allow many players to come in and play for with a minimum of disruption. Written November 5th, 2011 by Eric

Basketball season is very nearly here, and the Buckeyes get their first chance to show what they can do on November 6th. The exhibition opponent is an old favorite – The Walsh University Cavaliers.

Where have I seen this before..?

This is hardly the first time we’ve covered Walsh on this blog. In fact, the Buckeyes have faced off with the Cavaliers each of the last three seasons in exhibition match-ups. This is likely a tip of the hat to just how good the Cavaliers have been recently. Two seasons ago, they managed to make the NAIA National Championship, though they only succeeded at being the runners up. Last year, the Cavs made it to the Sweet 16 before being tripped up.

tBBC Radio Hour: Indiana Preview

Written November 4th, 2011 by Eric

Eric is joined by Malibuckeye and Michael from Our Honor Defend in previewing this week’s Indiana game. They spend plenty of time talking about Wisconsin, including whether or not Buckeye fans should have rushed the field after that game. They also discuss if Wisconsin is a burgeoning rival of Ohio State, and what differences there might be with OSU’s rivalry with Michigan.

The guys hit on the Indiana game and what aspects of the game worry them a little, particularly considering how much like a trap game it is.
Before they wrap up, they also talk a little basketball and preview the upcoming exhibition game against Walsh!
All this and more on this week’s Radio Hour!

(Note: The show is mildly explicit this week.)
