Reports: Tom Herman Named Houston Head Coach

Well, the day we’d all been fearing is now here… reports indicate that Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman has been offered and has accepted the head coaching job at the University of Houston.

Herman, who’s ties to Texas made him an incredibly strong recruiter in the area, was recently named the Broyles Trophy recipient as the nation’s top assistant coach. His name has been tied to every major job search in the past two years, so it was only a matter of time before he and his family would leave Columbus for the next step in their journey.

Over his three seasons with the Buckeyes, Herman’s offense has broken just about every major university record on that side of the ball. Most impressive was also his work as the Ohio State quarterbacks coach; as you are aware, Herman coached a team with it’s third quarterback to a 59-0 victory over Wisconsin after losing two Heisman candidates at the position in the fall.

Herman’s plans have not been announced yet regarding his participation in the Sugar Bowl prep; we’ll keep you updated as this develops, but it’s expected that he will not leave for Houston fully until the playoff concludes.

Best wishes, Coach Herman… Thank you for your investment at Ohio State! How firm thy friendship…
